Abe Lederman
President  and CEO
 


Abe has 25 years of experience in computer software engineering. He began his career with Hewlett Packard and was then recruited to become a founding member of Verity, a startup pioneer in the field of search engine technology. In 1994, Abe left Verity and later founded Innovative Web Applications (IWA), a software consulting firm primarily serving Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). While consulting with LANL and the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), Abe came to realize the enormous potential for federated search technology to accelerate the diffusion of knowledge. He founded Deep Web Technologies in 2002. Abe holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Larry Donahue

Larry’s career includes over 20 years of Internet development and information technology experience.   Before coming to Deep Web Technologies, Larry helped found SpaBoom, a leader in Internet-based Instant Gift Certificate functionality.  Prior to that, Larry was COO and Corporate Counsel for FatCow Web Hosting, helping to manage that company to profitable, triple-digit growth rates and oversaw the sale of FatCow for a higher-than-average valuation. Larry is licensed to practice law in the State of New Mexico, the State of Illinois, and is a registered patent attorney.  As a seasoned high-tech professional, Larry complements the Deep Web team with his extensive high-tech business management and growth experience. His successful track record designing, developing and leading complex Internet-based business, serves as a springboard for designing and deploying Deep Web’s business and go-forward strategy. 


Brian Despain
Vice President of Professional Services
 

Brian has spent the last 12 years working in early stage high-tech startups. He co-founded Brave New Worlds in 1996, an open source e-commerce software startup based in Pasadena, California. Brian led the company as CEO until the sale of the company to VA Software in 2000. He oversaw all aspects of the company, including product development of the award winning Xao e-commerce suite. After the acquisition, Brian became managing director of the e-commerce professional services practice at VA Software. He has spent the last 5 years working on various projects at his early stage incubator, Thalasar Ventures.

Maxine has over 25 years experience in information technology. Before joining Deep Web Technologies, Maxine was the Chief Information Officer for a Fortune 1000 company. As the CIO, Ms. Swisa oversaw all strategic planning for the IT department as well as day to day operations including networking and application development. She also directed office administration, plant management and employee professional development. She supervised approximately 50 employees and structured an IT organization that supported a company with $60 billion in assets.  Ms. Swisa blends technological expertise with business and operating know-how to leverage cutting-edge strategies into increased revenue and reduced costs. She has a history of leading teams to build scalable, flexible, and cost-effective information technology platforms, application frameworks, and data management systems. In addition to building new systems, she integrates business strategies into existing infrastructure.
